Tribe Apartments – Projects

Vacant for many years, three existing tower blocks have been remodelled internally and externally. Individual apartments have been altered, refitted and enlarged by enclosing external balconies, while common areas have been upgraded, including with new entrance lobbies.

Externally, new perimeter fencing and enveloping of each tower has transformed the appearance. The design minimises the building’s carbon footprint and creates energy savings through high levels of thermal insulation, new glazing and a biomass boiler.

The three towers now make a positive addition to the skyline and the urban fabric of this area of Manchester. Tribe New Islington, Tribe Ancoats and Tribe East Quarter in Ancoats have achieved a BREEAM ‘Outstanding’ accreditation and were awarded ‘Best Residential Scheme’ at the BREEAM Awards 2017.
