Location: Radcliffe, Greater Manchester

Bringing services back into the centre of Radcliffe, the hub project aims to build a campus of spaces which offer a range of activities and uses for the community. With a striking new Civic Hub building and surrounding landscaping masterplan, the project will reinvigorate the town centre and create a new link to the River Irwell. The Civic Hub will house Radcliffe’s new swimming pool, 100 station fitness suite, two multi-use studios and roof top activity space. In addition, the space will also include a new multi-level flexible library space, public café and Clip ‘n Climb zone viewable from the neighbouring public piazza, adding an element of vibrancy and dynamism to the façade.

The campus of spaces also brings back into use a prominent heritage asset building, Radcliffe Market Chambers, along with the very successful Radcliffe Market. Formerly a snooker club, the project will revitalise the Radcliffe Market basement space, which has suffered repeatedly from flooding of the River Irwell. These two historic spaces will be linked by a new three-storey building which provides vertical circulation to all levels of the existing buildings. The project also includes a new river balcony and river side terrace space, providing views across the River Irwell.

Sport England has already shown their support for the project which is due for completion in late 2024.
