Mainway Estate, Lancaster – Projects

Mainway Estate, Lancaster

Client: Lancaster City Council
Sector: Living
Housing
Value: £35M
Location: Lancaster
Status: In Progress

This phased estate regeneration will transform the 1960s Mainway estate into a housing development with the potential for 440 energy-efficient new apartments and family houses.

The early design phase envisages a series of ‘clusters’ with landscaped ‘green fingers’ allowing access and views to the River Lune. Consideration to orientation, daylight, a fabric-first approach to energy efficiency and careful consideration of renewable energy will all contribute to the clients ambitions for a net-zero carbon development and designed to meet Passivhaus standards.

Working with Anderton Gables during the feasibility stage, the regeneration of Mainway estate is expected to take five years to complete.
