Charters Village – Projects

Charters Village is located within a beautiful leafy setting on greenbelt land on the outskirts of East Grinstead. We were commissioned to design a retirement village with 85 apartments/bungalows and a 60 bed care home. At the heart of village life is Charters Towers, a pre Victorian building repurposed as a clubhouse that offers a range of communal facilities including restaurant, bar, library, shop, doctor’s surgery, guest suites and galleried lounge.

Extensive negotiations and consultation with the local community, LPA and various local groups ensured a successful planning determination. With both phases now complete, the design of the village enables residents to live independently whilst offering the choice of engaging in village activities. The security and independence offered by the development has helped to develop a strong, supportive and unique community spirit.
