Village 135 scoops second national award

6 April 2018

Village 135, Pozzoni’s innovative Manchester-based senior living development, has been named Best Independent Living Scheme at the Pinders Healthcare Design Awards 2018.

The scheme, which provides 135 extra care apartments split across two buildings, connected via an enclosed glass footbridge, is widely regarded as a one of a kind development due to its on-site facilities and creative design.

Village 135 benefits from an on-site community hub with a café, hair and beauty salon, roof terrace and guest suites for over-night visitors amongst other facilities to help encourage community integration and keep residents active and independent.

Part of what makes Village 135 special, is the way it combines the feel of a high-end residential development whilst also giving residents 24-hour access to on-site support. It is also designed to meet Home for Life standards, meaning residents will not have to relocate in the future, should their care needs increase.

This latest accolade comes after Village 135 was awarded ‘Best Large Development’ at the National Housing Awards 2017.

Commenting on the award win, Andrew Smith, director at Pozzoni Architecture, said: “We’re thrilled to have received a Healthcare Design Award for Village 135, which was one of our stand-out projects from last year. You would never know on first glance that it is a senior living development but subtleties in the design enable residents to move around their apartments and access all of the communal areas with ease, knowing that should their needs change in the future, the building is able to adapt and accommodate them. It’s this peace of mind that can help people to settle in to their new homes quicker and maintain their independence for longer.”

Pozzoni was also nominated at the Healthcare Design Awards 2018 for its work on Castle Brook, an 84-bed care home in Warwickshire, which was shortlisted for Best New Care Home, while the Belong Morris Feinmann scheme in Manchester, which comprises a 72-bed care home with an additional 13 independent living apartments, was shortlisted for Best Independent Living Scheme.
