South East expansion for Pozzoni

11 October 2022

AJ Top 100 architectural practice, Pozzoni Architecture, announces the opening of a new office in Brighton.

Established in 1983, the business has built up an impressive portfolio of award-winning developments across five key sectors: later living, education, residential, leisure and commercial. With a team of 60 people working across the UK, the launch of the studio in Brighton is a result of sustainable growth and thriving client partnerships.

Leading the new office is associate Ian Mellor, who joined Pozzoni in 2014. Relocating from the Altrincham studio, Ian has been an integral part of the practice’s later living team to date, which has since become one of the country’s leading retirement and care architects working with prominent developers and operators such as Inspired Villages, Allegra Care, Belong and Hamberley Care Homes.

Reinforcing an already established reputation in the southern region, a strong pipeline of work supports the Brighton office including Inspired Villages’ continuing phases at Ledian Gardens in Kent. Two new retirement villages are also ongoing; Horndean in Hampshire which has recently received planning approval and Matchams in Dorset which is currently subject to planning permission.

Most recently Pozzoni has completed Summerdown School in Eastbourne for The Southfield Trust, as part of the Department for Education’s schools programme. Once opened, the new learning environment will educate up to 84 learners who have a diagnosis of autism and speech/communication needs, alongside a separate centre for students with profound and multiple learning disabilities.

Ian Mellor, Pozzoni’s associate comments:

Investment in the new Brighton studio at Trafalgar Place supports our long-term client partnerships and further strengthens our service capabilities in the south east region across all five of our market sectors. Providing a local approach to our clients, set within the framework of our national context, ensures we can effectively maintain a uniquely personalised service to our industry partners.

“Being positioned right at the heart of this fantastic city is an attractive location for us. The area celebrates creativity and vibrancy which perfectly lends itself to our business ethos and design offering. We plan to attract and recruit key talent to grow the team over the forthcoming months which will reinforce our regional commitment as the business nears its 40th year anniversary in 2023.”
