Special Needs Sector Case Study:
The Red Centre,
Bury
Client: West Pennine Housing Association
Cost: £650,000
|
 |
Objectives
To provide a strategic programme of new homes
for people with disabilities in Bury.
The main requirement was for a child support unit
with respite accommodation.
The Child Support Centre’s brief, developed in
consultation throughout the process, included
respite care rooms, a day centre and office
support rooms.
Our View
Finding the site was the key to success with this
project. With a fairly limited budget but expansive
objectives we worked with a child support group
to develop the brief and the solution. We found
the perfect site adjacent to a school which could
accommodate a compact design and provide
opportunity for shared play areas using the
school grounds.
The Results
This was a particularly rewarding project. The
environment we have created, along with the
vision and support of our client, makes a real
difference to people’s lives. The centre is a bright,
lively environment for carers to work in and
children to play in.The entrance and reception
provide a friendly face, it is a truly welcoming and
personal building. |
