Queens Park Leisure Centre
We were commissioned to design a brand new £3.8 million scheme which involved the demolition of the existing buildings, with the exception of the Sports Hall which is a relatively modern structure. The Sports Hall has been refurbished and offers a wide range of facilities, more aligned with the contemporary leisure centre use the Council wished to achieve.
The high quality and inclusive design principles employed on this scheme have been used to create a modern facility which reflects a more contemporary architectural language and, in line with its use, differentiates it from the surrounding 'residential' typology. The front facade has been designed to allow maximum visual permeabiltiy into the building which in turn will raise interest and attract users by displaying the centres facilities through the use of full height glazing. Together with its high standard of finish and its rebranding and design, the centre has been redefined as a new focus central to the local community.
The facility has been designed to maximise energy and efficiency and where possible has sought to employ sustainable energy principles
