Village 135 is an extra care scheme providing accommodation for residents aged 55 and over. The scheme consists of 135 two-bedroomed apartments, ranging in size from 678 to 861 sq ft, and has been designed to respond to the diverse architectural scale in the vicinity.
The extra care model provides residents with a flexible on-site care package, so residents will not have to relocate in the future should their care needs increase. On site community facilities, some of which can be used by the public, include multi-purpose meeting spaces, IT suite, bistro, salon, health consultant space and spa. Residents also have access to sensory gardens, sun rooms and a roof top terrace.
Village 135 received a grant from the HCA care and Specialist Housing fund and is split across two sides of Hollyhedge Road at a junction being developed as part of the Manchester Metrolink expansion The buildings are connected via a glass bridge, allowing access to facilities on each side. The new Airport line will pass between the village and the new Wythenshawe Campus of Manchester College.
Village 135 was awarded ‘Best Large Development’ at the National Housing Awards 2017.
