Village 135 – Projects

This major extra care development addresses local demand for age-appropriate dwellings with two-bedroom apartments and community facilities with public access.

The village is in two halves on either side of a busy road, with a new glazed bridge linking and providing ease of access between the two sides. The neighbouring tower blocks have an established over 55’s community, whose residents enjoy all the amenities that the development has to offer.

The scheme responds positively to the needs of the local and wider neighbourhood, creating a popular and well-used community hub. It enhances the urban landscape by responding to the diverse architectural scale in the area.

Village 135 has been awarded 'Best Large Development' at the National Housing Awards 2017 and 'Best Independent Living' at the Pinders National Healthcare Design Awards 2018 and ‘Best Supported Housing’ at the Northern Housing Awards 2018. It is also featured as a case study by Housing LIN.
