Leisure Sector Case Study: Tooting Leisure Centre, Wandsworth Client: DC Leisure Management Cost: £2.5m “It was a success from the moment the new reception pod opened” Mike Morgan, DC Leisure

Objectives The existing 1960s leisure centre, in desperate need of refurbishment, was adding to the deprived feel of the local environment. Wandsworth Council were keen to demonstrate investment in the borough and DC Leisure, the operator, were looking for improved use of the building through better facilities. Our View We clearly needed to design a contemporary exterior and were keen to include an entrance which would act as a shining symbol of the significant regeneration.We proposed a striking double height, glass fronted, angled façade which trumpeted the new facilities. The Results The local press were very complimentary and Wandsworth Council granted the scheme a design award. DC Leisure have seen increased trading figures and are now keen to work with us to develop other areas of the centre.
