Objectives
To update the 30 year old leisure centres within the
borough to meet the existing and future needs of
the residents and the local communities, ensuring
that all recommendations comply with current
legislation.
Our View
The three existing facilities are an eclectic mix,
some dating back nearly 30 years, with add-ons and
updates over the years.This has resulted in a lack of
focus which does not deter the local residents, but
fails to provide them with a quality resource.
Originally looking for a cosmetic update, the
Council’s focus shifted to a more holistic approach
of only retaining structures and facilities which are
in good condition and seamlessly integrating them
into the new.
We specified the use of high quality materials to
give a branded feel and large expanses of glazing to
provide attractive frontages with an accessible feel.

The three projects have received great feedback
