Objectives
To replace obsolete and derelict post-war housing
with contemporary high-quality family homes.
To contribute to the regeneration of the area and
integrate within the urban fabric whilst
accommodating the needs, aspirations and lifestyles
of current and future residents.
Achieve ‘Lifetime Homes’,‘Secure By Design’ and Eco
Homes ‘Very Good’ accreditation.
Our View
Over three phases we designed over 54 houses and
32 flats with a mix of types and tenures, creating a
sustainable townscape with variety, interest and
identity.
Through the integration of ‘Lifetime Homes’
requirements into the design from the outset, there
is a built-in flexibility to allow for the ease of future
adaptation and alterations should a resident’s needs
change over time.
Environmental issues were a major consideration.
We used timber frame construction, high levels of
thermal insulation, energy efficient boilers, specified
sustainable construction materials and provided
opportunities for recycling.
The Results
The improvement of a whole community is an
achievement which we are particularly proud of and
it is a testament to the client, Pozzoni and the
residents themselves who have embraced this
opportunity to upgrade their daily lives. What is
more, the future flexibility means long term value for
money without the environment paying the price,
two future phases are already in the pipeline. |
